Our printed shade fabrics include fiberglass and polyester options with PVC coating for durability. Eco-friendly PVC-free fabrics available featuring 100% recyclable polyester, GREENGUARD Gold certified for indoor air quality. All fabrics are printable with UV-cured or dye-sublimated inks that bond permanently without cracking, peeling, or fading.
We use both UV printing and dye-sublimation depending on the fabric type. UV printing cures ink instantly with ultraviolet light for sharp graphics at 300+ DPI. Dye-sublimation infuses ink into fabric fibers at 150+ DPI for soft-touch finish and exceptional durability. Both methods produce fade-resistant results rated for 10+ years.
Printed shades are among the most durable window treatments available. Our UV-resistant inks withstand direct sunlight without fading. Fabrics are treated for stain resistance and can be cleaned with a soft cloth or vacuum with brush attachment. Avoid harsh chemicals that may affect print quality.
3-year fabric warranty covering manufacturing defects and normal fade resistance. 1-year hardware warranty on brackets, clutches, and chains. Motorization warranties vary by manufacturer (5-7 years typical). Extended warranty options available.

Why Choose Custom Printed Window Shades?

Custom printed window shades offer a unique opportunity to personalize your space while maintaining all the practical benefits of high-quality roller shades. Unlike mass-produced window treatments, our printed shades feature your chosen imagery—whether a stunning landscape photograph, abstract artwork, company logo, or personal design—printed directly onto the fabric with exceptional clarity and color accuracy.

For homeowners, printed shades transform ordinary windows into focal points that complement your interior design. Imagine a bedroom shade featuring a serene mountain vista, a children's room with their favorite characters, or a home office with an inspiring cityscape. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

For businesses, custom printed shades serve dual purposes as both functional window treatments and powerful branding tools. Hotels display custom artwork in guest rooms, restaurants feature menu items or branded graphics visible from the street, and corporate offices reinforce brand identity throughout their facilities. The shade's large surface area provides thousands of daily impressions at a fraction of traditional advertising costs.

Understanding Fabric Options

Blackout Fabrics (0% Openness)

Blackout fabrics provide complete light blockage with 95-100% opacity. These fabrics are ideal for bedrooms where darkness is essential for sleep, media rooms where ambient light interferes with screen visibility, and any space requiring maximum privacy. The opaque backing also provides excellent print vibrancy since no light passes through to wash out the image.

Light-Filtering Fabrics (1-5% Openness)

Light-filtering fabrics soften and diffuse incoming light while maintaining privacy from outside viewers during daylight hours. With openness factors ranging from 1% to 5%, these fabrics reduce glare and UV exposure while creating a pleasant ambiance. They're perfect for living rooms, offices, and any space where you want natural light without harsh direct sun.

Solar Screen Fabrics (5-14% Openness)

Solar screen fabrics are designed to reduce heat and glare while maintaining outward visibility. The open weave allows you to see through the shade during daylight hours while still blocking 86-95% of UV rays and rejecting up to 78% of infrared heat. This makes them ideal for sunny rooms where you want to protect furniture from fading while keeping energy costs down. Note that privacy is reduced—during evening hours when interior lights are on, silhouettes may be visible from outside.

Measuring for Your Printed Shade

Accurate measurements ensure a perfect fit

01

Choose Mount Type

Inside mount fits within the window frame for a clean look (requires 1.5"+ depth). Outside mount covers the frame and can make windows appear larger.

02

Measure Width

For inside mount, measure the inside width at top, middle, and bottom—use the smallest measurement. For outside mount, measure total width including desired overlap (typically 2-3" per side).

03

Measure Height

For inside mount, measure inside height at left, center, and right—use the longest measurement. For outside mount, measure from mounting point to desired bottom of shade.

04

Check Depth

For inside mount, measure window frame depth. Standard shades need 1.5" minimum; motorized shades require 3" minimum for the motor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What image resolution do I need for a quality print?

We recommend at least 150 DPI at the final print size for good quality, with 300 DPI preferred for detailed images. Our design studio will warn you if your image resolution is too low. For a 48" wide shade, you'd ideally want an image at least 7,200 pixels wide (48" × 150 DPI). We can sometimes improve low-resolution images through professional upscaling techniques.

How long do printed shades last before fading?

Our UV-resistant inks are rated for 10+ years of fade resistance under normal indoor conditions. Even in rooms with significant sun exposure, you can expect many years of vibrant color. The exact lifespan depends on sun intensity, hours of exposure, and fabric type—solar fabrics in west-facing windows may show gradual fading faster than blackout fabrics in shaded rooms.

Can I print on both sides of the shade?

Standard printed shades display the image on the room-facing side with a neutral backing. Dual-sided printing is available for applications where both sides will be visible, such as room dividers or glass-enclosed spaces. Note that dual-sided printing requires specialized fabrics and additional production time.

Do you offer Pantone color matching?

Yes! For brand-critical applications, provide your Pantone color codes and we'll match them precisely. We also offer physical printed samples before full production for projects where exact color matching is essential. Standard orders receive digital proofs showing expected color output.

Can I install the shade myself?

Absolutely. Most customers complete installation in 30-60 minutes using basic tools (drill, level, screwdriver). Shades come with all mounting hardware and detailed instructions. For motorized shades or complex installations, we can connect you with professional installers in your area.

What is the lead time for custom printed shades?

Standard production is 2-3 weeks from proof approval. Rush production is available for an additional fee. Motorized shades may require an additional 1-2 weeks. Contact us for current lead times on your specific configuration.

Can I get blackout commercial printed window shades with my company logo?

Yes — blackout fabric is standard for commercial installations, and custom printing does not compromise the blackout performance. The printed fabric is laminated or bonded to an opaque blackout backer, so your logo, branding, or imagery appears on the room side while the shade still blocks 100% of incoming light when fully drawn. This is common for corporate conference rooms that need both brand visibility and projector-ready darkness, hotel guest rooms where the shade is a statement piece by day and a blackout by night, and healthcare environments needing full light control in imaging suites or overnight stays.

For Fortune 100 commercial clients we offer Pantone color matching so your brand colors appear exactly as specified, and NFPA 701 fire-rated fabrics for code compliance in multi-occupancy buildings.

How much do custom printed shades cost?

Pricing depends on fabric type, size, printing method, and operating hardware. As a general range: a 36" × 60" custom printed roller shade in a light-filtering fabric with a chain clutch starts around $320, the same size in blackout with cordless spring-assist runs roughly $450, and motorized options with smart home integration range from $580 to $900 per shade. Commercial grade fabrics and oversized widths (up to 144") price proportionally.

The biggest cost variables are fabric (blackout and acoustic fabrics cost more than standard light-filtering), size (oversize shades require heavier roller tubes and specialty handling), and motorization (hardwired or battery-powered motors add $200-400 per shade). For a precise quote, use our design studio — it shows the final price the moment you enter your dimensions.

Do you print shades with pictures, photographs, or only logos?

Any high-resolution image works — photographs, digital artwork, vector logos, commissioned illustrations, or stock imagery you hold a license for. We routinely print landscape and architectural photography, abstract and fine art, children's illustrations for nurseries, repeating textile patterns, and corporate brand imagery. Photographs should be at least 150 DPI at the final print size for crisp detail; for a 72" wide shade that means roughly a 10,800 pixel wide source file.

We also support edge-to-edge prints with no visible seams up to 144" wide thanks to our wide-format equipment. If your image is lower resolution, our team can often restore or upscale it — upload it and we will flag any quality concerns before production.

What's the difference between printed roller shades, printed blinds, and printed Roman shades?

Roller shades are the most common canvas for printing because the flat, continuous fabric surface displays imagery without distortion. Horizontal blinds (Venetian-style) distort images across the slats and are generally not recommended for photographic printing, though they work for simple patterns. Printed Roman shades fold in horizontal pleats when raised, which means imagery appears continuous when the shade is down but segments when partially raised — best for patterns and abstract designs rather than faces or central focal points.

For most custom printing projects, roller shades deliver the cleanest result and are what this page covers. If you need printed Roman or cellular shades specifically, contact us — those are available on special order.

Are custom printed window shades a good option for commercial projects with many windows?

They are one of the fastest ways to add consistent branded visual identity to multi-window commercial spaces. We have outfitted full floors of corporate headquarters, hotel chains, restaurants with matching printed shades across dozens of openings, and large-format retail environments where each window becomes a point-of-sale canvas. Volume pricing applies for orders of 10+ shades.

Project management for larger installations includes: a site-survey template for accurate measurements, digital proofs showing how imagery ties together across a window wall, coordinated lead times so all shades arrive together, Pantone brand-color matching, and on-site installation coordination if desired. Our commercial sales team handles projects up to 500+ shades per order.
