Production runs 2 to 4 weeks from approved proof; install scheduling typically 1 to 3 weeks after delivery. Single point of accountability from PO to handoff.

Takeaway

An OrangePiel install begins the day production approves the proof and ends the day the punch list is signed. In between: 2 to 4 weeks of production in Richmond, Virginia; ground shipping (free, all 50 states); install scheduling 1 to 3 weeks after delivery; on-site install by an in-house OrangePiel crew or OrangePiel-supervised install partner; acoustic calibration; cleanup; and photo documentation delivered with the invoice. Single point of accountability from PO to handoff. No GC subcontract chain to coordinate; no install-quality blame sharing when a panel goes up crooked.

Week 1: proof approval kicks production

Production begins the day the OrangePiel design team and the client (or specifier) sign off on the proof — the dye-sublimation print color match, the panel dimensions, the mounting hardware spec, the joint layout for multi-panel acoustic murals, and the installation schedule. The proof approval is the production gate: nothing prints before sign-off, and nothing changes after sign-off without re-proofing. Specifiers approving on behalf of an end client should walk the proof with the client first.

Weeks 2 to 4: production in Richmond, Virginia

OrangePiel manufactures in-house in Richmond, Virginia. Dye-sublimation printing at up to 1440 DPI on PVC-free acoustically transparent face fabric for acoustic panels; light-filtering, blackout, or solar-screen fabric for roller shades. Acoustic panel cores are 60 percent post-consumer recycled PET felt or rigid mineral wool depending on the spec. Production runs 2 to 4 weeks from approved proof to ground shipping. Quality control on every panel: dimensional check, print registration check, mounting hardware factory-attached, packaging for transit. The crew that installs the panel does not also manufacture it — different teams, both in-house at the same facility.

Delivery: free ground to all 50 states

OrangePiel ships free ground to the install location from the Richmond, Virginia workroom. The OrangePiel project manager coordinates the delivery date with the client facilities team or GC site supervisor — typically 1 to 3 weeks before the install date so the crew has time to inspect every panel against the proof and report any shipping damage before install begins. Damaged panels are replaced from the workroom under the OrangePiel warranty.

Install day: what to expect on site

A standard install for a small project (single conference room, hotel guest-room corridor, restaurant accent wall) is a 1 to 2-person crew over a single day. A medium project (open-plan office floor, hotel lobby, restaurant full-build) is a 2 to 4-person crew over 1 to 3 days. A large project (multi-floor corporate fit-out, multi-property hospitality rollout, large-format acoustic mural) is a 4 to 6-person crew with project-manager supervision over 3 to 7 days. The crew dimension is sized to the project scope, not the other way around.

On-site coordination requirements are minimal: the install zone needs to be clear of furniture and other trades during the install window, and the crew needs power for tools and a clean dropoff zone for packaging removal. The OrangePiel project manager walks these requirements with the GC or facilities team before the install date. For occupied spaces — operating hotels, working offices, occupied restaurants — install can be scheduled overnight or in zoned phases to minimize occupant disruption.

Acoustic calibration on site

For acoustic-panel installs, the crew verifies the mounting depth, panel spacing, and surface coverage against the specified install conditions before close-out. NRC 0.85 panels per ASTM C423 (ASTM International) deliver rated absorption only when the air gap and surface coverage match the test condition. The calibration step takes 15 to 30 minutes per zone and is non-negotiable.

Every install scope is walked by the OrangePiel project manager before production begins. See OrangePiel installation services for the capability statement, scoping templates, and named-client install case studies.

Handoff: punch list + photo documentation + invoice

Cleanup is the same on every project: packaging removed, install zone vacuumed, surrounding finishes wiped clean of dust. The crew walks the punch list with the GC or facilities team before close-out. Photo documentation of the completed install delivered with the invoice — useful for facility records, warranty reference, or marketing material on the client side. The invoice is final after the punch list is signed; OrangePiel does not send revised invoices after close-out for added scope without a written change order.
