“Interior designers can specify OrangePiel printed shades and acoustic panels by providing window dimensions, fabric type, image files, and mounting preference. Our trade program includes free samples, dedicated project management, spec sheets, and volume pricing for commercial projects.”
Interior designers and architects are specifying custom printed roller shades and acoustic panels on a growing number of commercial projects. These products fill a gap in the traditional specification toolkit: they combine functional performance — light control, acoustic absorption, privacy — with unlimited visual customization. This guide covers the specification process, the OrangePiel trade program, sample ordering, and the practical details designers need to write printed shades and panels into their project specifications.
Specifying printed roller shades requires four pieces of information per window: dimensions (width and height), mounting type (inside or outside mount), fabric type (blackout, light-filtering, or solar screen), and image file. For acoustic panels, the specification includes panel dimensions, mounting method (wall or ceiling), and image file. OrangePiel provides spec sheets in standard CSI format that can be inserted directly into project documentation.
For the image, designers can supply their own artwork or select from the OrangePiel image library. File requirements are 100 to 150 DPI at the final print size, in JPEG, PNG, TIFF, PDF, AI, or SVG format. Vector files (AI, SVG) are ideal for logos and graphic designs because they scale to any size without quality loss. Photographic images should be high-resolution originals — avoid images downloaded from the web or pulled from social media, as these are typically too low-resolution for print.
The trade program is designed specifically for design professionals working on commercial projects. Benefits include volume pricing on orders of 10 or more units, free printed fabric samples with your actual project imagery, dedicated project manager for orders over 25 units, priority production scheduling, and CAD-ready specification documents. There is no annual fee or minimum order requirement to access the trade program.
To enroll, contact the OrangePiel commercial team with your firm name, project scope, and timeline. You will be assigned a project contact who handles quoting, sample coordination, production scheduling, and installation support for the duration of the project. For multi-phase projects, your project contact maintains consistency across all phases.
Printed fabric samples are a critical part of the specification process. OrangePiel provides free samples printed with your actual project imagery on the specific fabric type you are considering. Each sample is approximately 8 by 10 inches — large enough to evaluate print quality, color accuracy, and fabric hand in person. Samples ship within 3 to 5 business days.
We recommend ordering samples of each fabric type you are considering (blackout, light-filtering, solar screen) printed with the same image. This allows direct comparison of how the image renders on different substrates and helps clients understand the practical difference between fabric types. For acoustic panel projects, fabric samples include both the printed fabric and a cross-section of the panel core so you can present the full product to your client.
Brand-driven projects require precise color matching. OrangePiel supports Pantone color matching for logos and brand elements within dye sublimation printing capabilities. Members of the American Institute of Architects and ASID can request complimentary color proofing. Supply your Pantone references and we produce a printed sample for approval before full production begins. Note that dye sublimation on polyester fabric has a slightly different color gamut than offset printing on paper — our team will advise if any specified colors fall outside the achievable range and recommend the closest match.
For projects where exact brand color fidelity is critical, we recommend a color proof process: submit your brand guidelines, receive a printed fabric proof, and approve (or request adjustments) before production. This adds 5 to 7 business days to the timeline but ensures the final product matches your client brand standards precisely.
For most commercial projects, OrangePiel coordinates directly with the general contractor or installation crew on site. Roller shades ship fully assembled and ready to mount — brackets, hardware, and installation instructions are included. Most shades install in 10 to 15 minutes each with standard tools. Acoustic panels ship with French cleat mounting hardware for tool-free hanging after the cleats are mounted.
For large-scale projects (50+ units), OrangePiel can provide on-site installation supervision or connect you with experienced installation partners in your area. We also offer pre-installation site verification where our team reviews final measurements against the production order before manufacturing begins — an important quality checkpoint for projects with dozens or hundreds of custom-sized units.
Upload your artwork, preview it on any surface in our Design Studio, and have your custom shade, panel, or mural shipped free in 2–4 weeks.
