Hospitality design is about creating a feeling the moment someone walks through the door. When a boutique hotel in Napa Valley reached out to us, they had a specific vision: every guest suite should feel like an extension of the surrounding wine country landscape.
The hotel's interior designer wanted large-format wall murals for 40 guest suites across three buildings. Each mural needed to be unique—no two rooms identical—while maintaining a cohesive visual language throughout the property. The imagery had to evoke the rolling vineyards, golden hillsides, and morning fog that define the Napa Valley experience.
We commissioned a local landscape photographer to capture the valley across all four seasons. This gave us a library of over 500 original photographs to work with. Our design team curated and color-graded the images, ensuring each one would translate beautifully at mural scale—some spanning entire 12-foot walls.
Each mural was printed on our premium vinyl wallcovering, rated for commercial hospitality use. The material is washable, UV-resistant, and can be removed without damaging the underlying wall surface—important for a property that may want to refresh its look in the future.
Our installation team worked room by room over a six-week period, coordinating with the hotel's renovation schedule to minimize disruption. Precise alignment was critical—at this scale, even a millimeter of misregistration is visible.
The hotel reported a 40% increase in positive guest reviews mentioning room aesthetics within the first quarter after installation. Several travel publications featured the property specifically for its "immersive design that connects guests to the landscape."
Custom printed products aren't just decoration. They're storytelling tools that shape how people experience a space.
We begin with a site visit and design consultation to understand the hotel's brand identity, architecture, and guest experience goals. Our design team develops mural concepts—typically 2-3 directions—presented as digital mockups showing the artwork in the actual space. After concept approval, we produce physical samples for color verification, then manufacture and install the final murals.
Custom printed murals from OrangePiel are produced on durable commercial-grade substrates designed for high-traffic hospitality environments. Unlike wallpaper, our murals are seamless in widths up to 126 inches, reducing visible seams. They're also UV-resistant, cleanable with commercial cleaning agents, and available in fire-rated formulations required for commercial occupancy.
Yes. Mural panels can be replaced individually without removing surrounding finishes. Hotels that refresh room designs on 5-7 year cycles can update mural artwork while retaining existing mounting systems. This makes brand refreshes faster and more cost-effective than full-room renovations.
Boutique hotel mural projects typically require 10-14 weeks from initial design to installation. This includes design development (2-3 weeks), sampling and approval (2 weeks), production (4-6 weeks), and installation (1-2 weeks). We coordinate scheduling with general contractors to align with renovation timelines.
