What's in a name?
Many people are interested in the origin of our name, “OrangePiel”. The name was born during breakfast one morning on a trip around the US.
{Hooked on phonics works for us}
While eating an orange I realized that, generally, there are two ways to eat an orange, cut it or peel it. If you cut the orange, by imposing you own conventions upon it, it will “bleed,” dry up, and become inedible at a later time. If you peel the orange, working with its natural systems, the peel separates without harming the fruit and the orange can be eaten or saved.
So, that takes care of the "Orange" part, but what about the Piel. For those Spanish enthusiasts, you probably recognize "piel" as the spanish word for "skin".
piel [pe-el'] {noun}
1. The skin. (f)
2. Hide of an animal cured and dressed, pelt. (f)
3. Peel or skin of fruits. (f)
